Instructions on how to set up your custom domain on the platform

Managing your DNS settings

The first thing you need to do when configuring your domain is to log in to where you purchased your domain from (e.g. Cloudflare, GoDaddy, 123 reg). Then find the domain you want to point to your site on Fixers and go to DNS Settings

Create a new CNAME record

The next step is to create a new CNAME record.

On your DNS settings go to where you Create a new CNAME record

Press 'Add' and create a new CNAME record and fill in the empty fields as below

  • Enter www as your host name

  • Select type CNAME

  • Enter ssl.fixersworld.com as the destination

Now press save and you should see your new configuration added to the list of records. Your domain should now be set up on www.yourdomain.com

It can take up to four hours for the domain to propagate across the internet. You can check on the status of the update around the world using this tool.

Set up domain forwarding for your root domain

Next you need to set up a redirect to ensure your domain loads without the www. prefix e.g yourdomain.com

On your DNS settings page will see a sectio balled 'Forwarding'.

Press 'ADD' on the domain forwarding, you can ignore subdomain for now.

  • Select a permanent redirect (301)

  • Ensure your naked domain (the one without the www. prefix) is set up to forward to your domain (eg. the one with the http://www. prefix)

  • If availabel make sure to tick the checkbox update my namneserves and DNS settings to support this change.

Your domain should now be good to go on www.yourdomain.com.

Set your domain up on your dashboard

Once you have configured your domain go to My Site > Advanced in your dashboard.

Then add your root domain (the one with the www. prefix DO NOT include you domain with the https:// prefix) to the custom domain field.

Once the domain is propgated your website will all be set up and live on the platform.
